NVIDIA grant provides LTU MCS with state-of-the-art equipment

NVIDIA has chosen LTU as a CUDA Teaching Center, and will provide Dr. Yin Wang and LTU MCS its state-of-the-art scientific computing GPUs. The new equipment will be used to expand LTUs education and allow training LTUs students to master the emerging field of GPUs and CUDA compilers. The powerful processing devices will also support LTU Computer Science research, including scientific computing, Big Data analysis, astroinformatics, and more.

Each of the three devices provided by NVIDIA has 448 cores with 1.15 GHz internal clock, and provides over 0.5 Teraflops. This equipment will be added to the 320-core cluster and the new computer lab that are now being built with funding from the National Science Foundation.

LTU joins a prestigious list of 80 universities around the world selected by NVIDIA as CUDA Teaching Centers.
