SALT to observe a peculiar celestial object discovered at LTU

The 9.2 meter SALT, the largest telescope in the southern hemisphere and one of the world’s largest telescopes, will obesreve a peculiar extra-galactic object that was discovered at LTU MCS. The object was discovered by applying data mining algorithms to the large SDSS galaxy dataset, which contains hundreds of millions of celestial objects, vast majority of them have never been inspected manually.
